Concertino Accordion Band was founded on October 18, 2003. From the very beginning, the group has set itself the goal of reviving the classical accordion in the Republic of Moldova. The accordion was perceived in Moldova as a popular instrument, so the members of the group decided to show the public that its music could be interpreted not only in popular music, but also in classical, jazz, world, light, etc. The ensemble consists of seven accordionists, a bass player, pianist and drummer, students and graduates of the Moldova Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts. In three years the group has managed to support numerous solo concerts in prestigious halls of the capital, such as the “Sala dell’Organo”, the National Philharmonic “S. Luncheivici”, National Theater of Opera and Ballet, National Palace and other parts of the country. Since 2006, the team opens a new page in the business – participation in international competitions. To date the band has won 12 trophies in accordion competitions all over Europe, thus confirming the words of the great master accordionist Richard Galliano, who once called the ensemble “the best team in Europe” in a concert. The group’s repertoire is very varied and includes different musical genres, from classical and romantic to jazz, Piazzolla’s tangos, modern, light and even popular music, collaborating with Moldovan composers and also from abroad. Richard Galliano, who has performed many times with the Concertino Accordion Band, is a major promoter and fan of this band.
