The Calabrian maestro Antonio Spaccarotella, now the protagonist of the accordion festival in Castelfidardo, is reconfirmed also for 2023 as artistic director of the PIF, ready to make us dream with his musical proposals from all over the world.

In September, precisely from 13 to 17, Castelfidardo will show a new interpretation and vision of the International Accordion Prize with a very young artistic director who has the increasingly rare characteristic of giving an original and connoting trait to his projects.

Maestro Spaccarotella, in fact, boasts a curriculum and an artistic career that is decidedly important in the music scene. Holder of the accordion chair at the Catanzaro Conservatory of Music P.I. Tchaikovsky, production manager of the Calabria Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the most appreciated emerging orchestras on the international scene, has also given concerts in 40 countries and advanced training courses in some of the most prestigious universities and conservatories in the world. For some time he has been working on the enhancement and research of new languages ​​​​of the accordion repertoire in order to promote and return to sensitize young people to listening to music and to seize the opportunities for social inclusion and in the world of work. He is Production Director of the OFC Philharmonic of Calabria and supports its Leader Filippo Arlia for all productions, collaborations, recordings and projects of various artistic origins that concern him: Fortissimo Festival, Campus AFAM, Mediterranean Festival, OPM Orchestra.

Despite his young age, Antonio Spaccarotella is undoubtedly one of the brightest and most multifaceted accordionists of the new generation, he is the leader of projects ranging from Solo to the Symphony Orchestra, with which he has played countless concerts of various artistic backgrounds treading the stages of all over the world, with tours in: Russia, Czech Republic, South Korea, Morocco, New Zealand, China, Canada, U.S.A, India, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, France, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Finland, Croatia, Holland, Romania, Hungary, Ireland, Scotland, England, with concerts at: Shanghai Grand Theater, Salvador de Bahia Acoustic Basin, Seoul Art Center, Moscow Gnessin Hall, Bing Crosby Theater – Spokane WA -(U.S.A), KolKatta Classical Teather (India), Philharmonics Hall of Bacau- (Romania), Teatro Nuovo and Teatro Menotti – Festival dei Due Monti of Spoleto, Astra Theater of Castelfidardo, White Hall of St. Petersburg, Rostov State Musical theater and many others.

 

2008 – Wins the 33rd edition of the Castelfidardo International Accordion Prize

2014 – He made his first album of his unpublished compositions Non c’è Tempo (NSJ Italia) with saxophonist Alberto La Neve

2011 – Together with Nicola Pisani (baritone saxophone) he recorded an entire CD of contemporary music and guided improvisations

2016 – The Italian Accordion Culture names him Accordion Ambassador for the great achievements and enhancement of the Italian accordion in the world.

2017 – Soloist debut at the Kaunas Philharmonic (Lithuania) on the occasion of the world premiere of Sūrya Horiental Tango and the Confederation Internationale des Accordéonistes – International Music Council – UNESCO awards him the MERIT AWARD Lifetime Achievement Award together with Yuri Shiskyn in Rostov on Don (Russia ).

2018 – He was awarded the title of Honorary Professor by the S.Rachmaninov National Academy – Rostov State Music Conservatory (Russia).

 

For some time now he has been involved in various higher education institutes in Italy and abroad holding seminars and masterclasses at: Shanghai Normal University (China), Department of Music of the Federal University of Paraiba (Brazil), Conservatoire National de Musique et Art Coreographique de Rabat (Morocco), the Stanislao Giacomantonio State Conservatory of Music (Italy), the prestigious Gnessin Academy in Moscow (Russia), the P.I. Tchaikovsky (Italy) where he conducted the Philharmonic Orchestra of Calabria on the occasion of the AFAM Campus.

He is the didactic coordinator of the Accordion Advance, a project synergy for international professional training. It boasts a class of students from all over the world including many winners of the most important international competitions (CIA, CMA, PIF, Klingenthal), many already carry out teaching and concert activities.

He is one of the seven members elected by the congress (2018) of the Music Committee of the Confederation Internationale des Accordéonistes. He is full professor of classical and traditional accordion at the P.I.Tchaikovsky Catanzaro-Nocera Terinese State Conservatory of Music and founding President of the Astor Piazzolla Academy, the first and exclusive academy in the world of the Astor Piazzolla Foundation in (Buenos Aires) directed by Laura Escalada Piazzolla, widow of the Argentine visionary genius and who later personally assigned the PIAZZOLLA AWARD to her URBAN project (research and promotion of Tango).
