A meeting between the accordion and baroque music: accordionists Giorgio Dellarole and Mirco Patarini join L’Astrée, Baroque Ensemble of Turin directed by harpsichordist Giorgio Tabacco, for an evening dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach, featuring solo violinist Francesco D’Orazio.

Founded in 1991 in Turin on the initiative of Giorgio Tabacco, L’Astrée is a period-instrument ensemble specializing in 17th- and 18th-century repertoire, a guest of major international festivals such as Settembre Musica, the Ravenna Festival, and the Konzert Haus in Vienna.

Giorgio Dellarole devised, around twenty years ago, an accordion tuned to the 18th-century “Vallotti” temperament, developed with the Bugari company and harpsichordist Riccardo Doni. His recent collaboration with Scandalli and with Mirco Patarini, accordionist and head of the company, led to the building of the two instruments that dialogue with L’Astrée on stage.

The program includes Bach’s Concertos BWV 1062 and BWV 1060 for two accordions, BWV 1043 for violin and strings with soloist Francesco D’Orazio, and BWV 1061 for accordion, harpsichord and strings.
