Sete Sois Sete Luas: a “flying machine” to Castelfidardo

Written by PIF on . Posted in News

The PIF 2014 like a “flying machine” thanks to the “Revelation Award Sete Sois Sete Luas / Castelfidardo”, for accordionists. One of the most original ideas of PIF 2014 is the establishment of a section dedicated to World Music within the category N which corresponds to the “Revelation Award Sete Sois Sete Luas / Castelfidardo”.

What is it exactly? Who can participate? What is “Sete Sois Sete Luas”?

The “Revelation Award Sete Sois Sete Luas” is a special category of PIF established in 2014 in collaboration with the Festival Sete Sois Sete Luas. The winner will not only have a … scholarship and medal art … but also he (she?) will make an artistic residence in Portugal, Ponte de Sor, becoming part of one of the orchestras of the Festival Sete Sois Sete Luas; he will do some concerts with this orchestra. All this starts in 2015.

Competitors may participate in the “Revelation Award Sete Sois Sete Luas”  from countries where the Festival Sete Sois Sete Luas are, as follows: Brazil, Cape Verde, Croatia, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia.

Who will be the artists that can participate in the Revelation Award Sete Sois Sete Luas? they have to use accordion soloist and diatonic accordion soloist with a minimum of 21 buttons on the keyboard right (2 rows of buttons) and 8 basses in the lower left keyboard.

The Sete Sois Sete Luas Festival was founded in 1993 by the happy encounter between a group of young Italians active in the theater between Italy and Portugal and the great Portuguese writer José Saramago, who received, in 1998, the Nobel Prize for literature.

Saramago was honorary president of the SSSL Festival and has provided  at the Festival itself the philosophical and practical tools to begin a fantastic journey through the Mediterranean and the Lusophone world. The Festival has chosen to be guided by the present values in his work “Memorial of the Convent”, whose characters are from the soul visionary dreamers who move in medieval Europe, oppressed by intolerant and gloomy Inquisition. Baltazar Sete Sois and Blimunda Sete Luas create the “Passarola, the flying machine”, which is the symbol of the Festival for his evocative and symbolic power.

It is the metaphor of dreams and utopian freedom. The Festival wants to make use of the ability to look beyond the realities that offers art, music and literature.

The PIF of Castelfidardo is honored and proud to be partnering with the Festival SSSL and, to paraphrase the works of Saramago, is proposed as a “flying machine” for those accordionists operating in the traditional music and World Music who want to seize an important cultural and professional opportunities but, above all, an important opportunity to realize their dreams !!
