The PIF doesn’t rest on the success of the last edition with 19 new compositions for Fisarmonica and Strings orchestra.
The works that combine the classical accordion with the symphony orchestra are certainly among the formations still little explored by composers.
Agree with the artistic director Renzo Ruggieri, the duty of the most important accordion competition in the world must be to offer new opportunities, even when it could be represent a risk for subscriptions.
However, the stakes are very high and the winning composition will become the mandatory piece for the AWARD Category.
This reveals to composers the opportunity to have a “Premiere” on an international stage and that all the candidates – the best concert performers of the next future – will study their composition.
An important category like this can’t have that an extraordinary jury. So, it is confirmed M° Paolo Picchio (Italy) as president.
M° Picchio is a musicologist, composer and for a long time art director of the PIF. With him, we honored to announce M° Ivan Fedele (Italy), with an impressive curriculum with hundreds of published titles including “Antigone” which won the XXVII “Franco Abbiati” Prize of the Italian Music Critics Association, without forgetting his artistic directions at the Venice Biennale.
The young composer Bete Ilin (Macedonia) is a lecturer at the SMBSC Music High School “Ilija Nikolovski – Luj” in Skopje with many published works and many prizes already won including the award of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia.
Among innovations also the M° Livio Bollani (Italy) composer, violinist and accordionist currently professor at the “P.I. Tchaikovsky” Conservatory, in Nocera Terinese (Catanzaro, Italy), artistic director of the “Ridotto Academy”, with important compositions performed in many international countries (USA, Romania, Bulgaria, Tunisia, New Zealand).
Among the confirmations, once again M ° Frederic Lips (Russia), a living legend of the accordion, M° Gorka Hermosa (Spain), whose compositions are performed worldwide by concert performers, in the most important international festivals.
Again, M° Peter Soave (USA) one of the main “soloists” and “with orchestra” concertists worldwide with several collaborations with symphony orchestras, such as: Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Windsor Symphony, San Salvador Philharmonic.
Still, an extraordinary interpreter of the international accordion, M° Massimiliano Pitocco (Italy) first among the Italians to win the PIF in 1988 and, today, teacher accordion at the prestigious “Accademia Santa Cecilia” in Rome.
Two orchestra conductors like M° Volodymyr Runchak (Ukraina) with over 400 “world premières” with the most important international orchestras, highly executed composer and refined accordionist and M° Antonio Cericola (Italy), acclaimed director of orchestras, stands out for its extraordinary compositional vein, has written musicals, ballets and classical symphonic works such as “The Adventures of Pinocchio” which debuted at the Athens International Festival alongside the Berliner Philharmoniker and Luciano Pavarotti.
Finally please, candidates have to remind that the deadline for subscriptions is April 30th, forms to send on our website www.pifcastelfidardo.it.
