Prestige and balance at #PIF2018 for the jury of the Classical Composition Category. The president is Paolo Picchio (READ), musicologist and for a long time artistic director of the PIF. At his side a set of composers, 3 concert performers and 3 conductors.

Gorka Hermosa (READ) and Petri Makkonen (READ) are the composers among the most prolific and loved in the accordion world: the entrants of each international accordion competition perform their works. Germano Mazzocchetti (READ) complete the trio of composers. Mazzocchetti is a classical accordionist and author of cinema, theater and tv music. He has won many awards including that of the National Theater Critics Association.

The concert performers Friederich Lips (READ) is absolutely the first classical accordion player in the world. Teaching at the Gnessin Akademy in Moscow, he received prestigious awards from Russian presidents Yeltsin and Putin. Peter Soave (READ) play accordion an bandoneon with the most important symphonic orchestras (Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Windsor Symphony, San Salvador Philharmonic, etc.). The works written especially for him are numerous. Alongside these two sacred monsters is Massimiliano Pitocco (READ), the first italian winner of the PIF Premio Category in 1988. Teaching in the prestigious Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, Pitocco is one of the main classical accordionist in Italy.

The three conductors are Antonio Cericola, Volodymyr Runchak and Filippo Arlia (READ). Arlia is the very young director of the Nocera Terrines conservatory and the founder of the Calabria Philharmonic Orchestra. For the italian magazine Famiglia Cristiana, Arlia “is among the most promising directors of his generation” (cit. Roberto Zichittella). Antonio Cericola (READ) is an acclaimed conductor and extraordinary composer: his lyric opera “The Adventures of Pinocchio” made his debut at the Athens International Film Festival of the Berliner Philharmoniker and Luciano Pavarotti. Volodymyr Runchak (READ) in addition to being a fine accordionist and composer, is known for his activity as a conductor with over 400 world premières with the most important international orchestras.
