“If Castelfidardo with its prestigious festival is alive despite the pandemic, music and the accordion are also alive”: with this effective slogan coined by artistic director Renzo Ruggieri, the PIF leafs through the intense calendar of a day with multicolored jazz shades on Friday , combining the digital innovation of a ‘special edition’ and tradition.
The concert scheduled at the Astra theater (9.30 pm, free admission upon reservation at 0717822987) offers an original PIF production in memory of an artist who in just 25 years of life has left a deep mark, making herself appreciated forever all over the world.
Born into a family where he breathed musical humus from an early age, the ‘vocation’ of Luciano Fancelli (Foligno, 1928-1953) for the accordion flared up like an enlightenment in a ‘young adult’ sensitive to all the arts, open to harmony and jazz rhythm: a very skilled performer, a poetic and personal composer who wrote a lot, perhaps aware of the fragility of his existence. Host of radio programs for Rai, he recorded for Ricordi and Farfisa, leaving behind a mass of material which inspired today’s show.
In fact, his work relives in the equally young and already established talents of the Virtuosity Duo (Andrea Di Giacomo and Valerio Russo) and the Italian Accordion Quintet in a program that alternates live and video contributions. The quintet from Veneto will be the voice of Fancelli – mature, thanks to members of fine caliber (Romano Benetello, Gianfranco De Lazzari, Omar Francescato, Roberto Salvalaio and Roberto Rusalen) who have merged their respective experiences and styles while maintaining an improvisational matrix.
The auditions of the finalists of the Prize & Competition of the jazz and virtuoso categories are part of a calendar that also includes the seminar “The world accordion to Gil” with the pianist, accordionist, producer and arranger Gil Goldstein connected in live streaming by the United States at 4pm to address issues such as solo development, accompaniment, transcriptions and other advice on using the accordion in jazz
At the civic school of music “Soprani” from 16 to 19 free lessons for under 18 of piano (maestro Emiliano Giaccaglia), accordion (Luigino Pallotta), singing (Alessandro Battiato), accordion (Roberto Lucanero) and drums (Andrea Elisei) are held: reservation at 0717823305.
In the Auditorium San Francesco and the conference room in via Mazzini, the exhibitions of Aurelio Alabardi, Giorgio Toccaceli and of Farfisa continue. In Piazza della Repubblica, large screen to follow the live broadcast, live music at Bar La Centrale and Pub ‘O Brian with The jukebox live band.
