In the general context of the search for new electroacoustic repertoires in contemporary author music, Carlo Sampaolesi will present various examples, with a focus on his latest project for accordion and live electronics, with extensive documentation, testimonies from composers and live listening.

The conference will focus on research in the field of repertoires for accordion and electronics in the world of contemporary music. After an introduction that will present some of the researchers, accordionists and composers, engaged in this sense, with examples of scores and plays, Carlo Sampaolesi will illustrate his personal research in progress, which sees the creation of repertoire for accordion and live electronics, with the goal of expanding the tonal possibilities of the instrument. The documentation of the work, with the interesting testimonies of some of the Italian composers involved, will be followed at the conclusion of the conference by the performance of a piece selected from those presented.

Born in 1997, Carlo Sampaolesi graduated with honors and mention in accordion at the “G. Tartini ”of Trieste in the class of M ° Corrado Rojac. He also deepened his studies with Claudio Jacomucci (Italian Accordion Academy) and Krassimir Sterev (Klangforum Wien. His interest in sound and his relationship with space and time led him to deepen the timbre and spectral research of his instrument. , undertaking a path of collaborations and commissions with composers such as: Maurizio Azzan, Carlo Elia Praderio, Mattia Clera, Tommaso Settimi and David Antunez. He has performed in numerous festivals including the International Accordion Award, Darmstadt Ferienkurse Festival, Pontino Festival, Teatro La Fenice and others, also holding concerts in Germany, Austria, Holland and Albania. He collaborates with important contemporary music ensembles such as “mdi ensemble” of Milan and “In.Nova Fert ensemble” of Bologna. In 2020 he made his debut with his first work record title PAR.ETi, entirely self-produced, with music by: Salvatore Sciarrino, Luciano Berio, Alessandro Solbiati and Dmitri Kourlianski. His contemporary repertoire includes pieces by: Pierluigi Billone, Salvatore Sciarrino, Rebecca Saunders, Magnus Lindberg, Giulia Lorusso and others. His musical research is currently focused on extending the timbral capabilities of the instrument with a program for accordion and live electronics.
