Jörgen Sundeqvist

Jörgen Sundeqvist was born in Sweden 1962 in a family of musicians and was eager to
staä early with the accordion. After studies with Hans-Erik Nääs he continued his musical
training ät Framnas School of Music in Piteå. ln 1979, he continued his studies in U.S.A’
with thä accordion legend Anthony Galla-Rini, with whom he also toured in U.S.A. and in
Europe. Jörgen is a very important force in Swedish cultural life and works among other
things as so-ioist, arranger, composer and teacher. He is an appreciated soloist with
orchLstras and as a chämber musician he performs frequently with many of the leading
ensembles and instrumentalists. He has also made many recordings, both as a soloist
and chamber musician. Jörgen has toured in America, Europe, Russia and New Zealand
and has been soloist on radio and television on both sides of the Atlantic. Jörgen is
teaching at Piteå Academy of Music and is a member of the Royal Academy of Music in
Stockholm. He is also frequently angaged as an adjudicator in international competitions.
Many composers have dedicated works to Jörgen and he is an eager commissioner of
new-music for his instrument. Jörgen runs a successful international career as accordion
soloist and chamber musician.
