“Astor Piazzolla Award” the new category of PIF 2020

Written by PIF on . Posted in News

Buenos Aires was the most important port in Latin America. Here Europe met Africa and indigenous cultures: Tango was born here, Astor Piazzolla was born here. The “All Colors of the World” theme of PIF 2020, favors the encounter between cultures, between musical genres and the spread of the accordion with the other arts. TANGO could not be missing with a dedicated category.

“Astor would have appreciated with great enthusiasm that there was a section dedicated to him at the Castelfidardo International Festival! Thanks!”
Laura Escalada Piazzolla.

“The International Accordion Festival of Castelfidardo saw the birth of the Piazzolla Music Award more than twenty years ago, conceived and curated by my father, the closest collaborator of Astor Piazzolla, the publisher Aldo Pagani. A year after his death A.Pagani Musical Edition will award the Special Prize “Aldo Pagani” to a deserving candidate, with the joy of being able to continue the work done for many years together with the city of Castelfidardo and to give the world this wonderful music.”
Alain Pagani

Honored by the words of Astor’s wife and Alain Pagani, we remind you that the Accordion Museum in Castelfidardo has the original Astor bandoneon.
